Welcome to the Newly Refurbished Scholar

We’re delighted to share that our transformation is now complete. The Scholar has undergone a thoughtful refurbishment, including a beautifully refreshed reception and the launch of our brand-new brasserie and bar, Abacus. The result is a more open, inviting and intuitive space designed to make every moment of your stay feel effortless.

Our contemporary brasserie, Abacus, serves breakfast each morning before moving to an all-day menu from 12 noon to 9.30pm — a fresh, modern take on Scottish produce with Mediterranean influences. The bar is open until late, perfect for relaxed drinks, conversation and unwinding at the end of the day.

The Living Room

Formerly The Scholar Bar, The Living Room is now a versatile, welcoming space for guests to enjoy a coffee, take time out, or host small private meetings and gatherings for up to 30 people.

The Scholar remains a calm retreat within the leafy Pollock Estate, just a short walk from Arthur’s Seat, Holyrood Park, the Meadows and Edinburgh’s vibrant Southside. All of the city’s iconic landmarks are within easy reach.

Our bedrooms have been designed with comfort in mind. Each features a large bed with an Elite mattress, crisp linen, a TV with multiple channels, Novus tea, an OPAL capsule coffee machine and a generous workspace. Bathrooms include spacious rainfall showers, Laura Thomas toiletries and soft, fluffy towels.

The hotel is located at the foot of Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat and a short walk to all the main Edinburgh tourist attractions and historic Royal Mile.

The Royal Commonwealth Pool is next door, providing gym, swim and leisure facilities which can be accessed for a drop-in fee.
